The Kashi Darshan, Ganga Aarti & Boat trip

For most devotees, a first visit to Kashi means three things: darshan at Shri Kashi Vishwanath, time at the Ganga ghats, and the evening aarti. MandirMay plans a Kashi Darshan, Ganga Aarti & Boat trip that puts these into two nights and three days, with the travel in between taken care of; pick it on the Kashi Vishwanath page when it fits your dates.

  • A Sankalp puja at the Ganga ghat
  • The evening boat ride on the Ganga for the aarti
  • Local sightseeing by cab
  • A hotel stay for two nights
  • Airport pickup and drop

How the three days run

Day 1: arrival and darshan. A pickup from Varanasi Airport (about 25 km from the temple) brings you to your hotel. After you settle in, you have your Sugam darshan at Kashi Vishwanath. With a Sugam ticket, entry and darshan usually take 30 to 45 minutes on regular days.

Day 2: the ghat and the city. You begin with a Sankalp puja at the Ganga ghat, then head out on local sightseeing to temples and places around Varanasi by cab. In the evening, you take the boat on the Ganga to watch the aarti from the river.

Day 3: departure. You are dropped back to the airport for your flight home.

The exact timings for darshan, puja and the boat are confirmed with you once you book, around your flight and the temple’s slots.

Build your own Kashi trip

If the ready-made trip doesn’t fit your dates or plans, pick the services you need. Everything below can go on one booking from the Kashi Vishwanath page.

Darshan. Sugam darshan booking assistance: our team books the temple’s official Sugam ticket for you. Sparsh darshan is also listed with the Kashi pujas.

Pujas. A Sankalp puja at the Ganga ghat for two, a personal Sankalp puja for one, or a Rudrabhishek with one, two or four pandits. All puja samagri is included. Pind daan and Tripindi shradh in Kashi are also available.

Stay. Economy or Premium rooms, about a 2–3 minute walk from the temple, with AC, a double bed, an attached bathroom and a lift. Check-in is at 12 PM and check-out at 11 AM.

Cabs. Pickup and drop for Varanasi Airport or Varanasi Junction (about 5 km from the temple), in a car for up to four or up to six people, and a cab for local sightseeing.

Boat. The evening boat along the ghats: buy single seats, or rent the whole boat for up to eight people. See Ganga aarti in Varanasi.

Planning one, two or three days

One day. Arrive early, do Sugam darshan in the morning, sit at the ghats in the afternoon and take the evening boat. It works, but it is a full day, and best if you are staying the night.

Two days. Darshan on the first day, a Sankalp puja or Rudrabhishek the next morning, sightseeing in the afternoon and the boat at dusk. This is the pace most families find comfortable.

Three days. Add a second, unhurried visit to the ghats, a pind daan if your family needs one, or simply more time in the old city lanes.

October to March is the most comfortable time to visit Varanasi. Mondays, Shravan (July–August) and festivals such as Dev Deepawali are the busiest, so book early if your dates fall then.

What to carry, wear and expect

Documents. Carry the Aadhaar card of every devotee above 12. The Sugam darshan ticket is booked against it, and the names must match. Keep the e-ticket on your phone or as a printout.

Clothes. Traditional wear is the right choice for the temple, and it is expected for Sparsh darshan. Bring a shawl or light jacket from November to February, when mornings and evenings on the river are cool.

At the temple. There are security checks at the gates, and phones and bags have to be left at a cloakroom or locker before you go in. Keep what you carry small. The Kashi Vishwanath Corridor now links the temple to the ghats, so you can walk between darshan and the river.

In the old city. The lanes around the temple are narrow and busy, and cars can’t reach every door. Comfortable footwear that is easy to slip off helps, as you will leave it outside the temple and at the ghat.

On the river. Keep belongings close in the boat and on the ghats, and keep elders and children near you at the evening crowds.

How booking and payment work

  1. Choose your trip or services and the number of devotees. Up to five devotees can go on one Kashi booking. You see the price for your date before you pay.
  2. Pay an advance online through Razorpay. The rest is paid before your visit.
  3. Share your details. Our team contacts you on WhatsApp or by phone for each adult’s full name as on Aadhaar, age, gender and Aadhaar number, which the temple needs for Sugam darshan. Children under 12 don’t need a darshan ticket.
  4. Receive your plan and your official temple e-ticket, as a PDF on WhatsApp and email.
