Is there a VIP darshan pass at Kashi Vishwanath?
Many devotees search for a "VIP darshan pass" for Kashi, expecting a premium ticket that skips the queue entirely. At Shri Kashi Vishwanath, that is not quite how it works.
The temple has one official paid entry for a shorter wait: Sugam darshan. It is issued by the temple board, in your names, against your Aadhaar, for a set slot. You still go through security and walk to the same sanctum as everyone else; what changes is the line you wait in, and how long you wait.
The temple also has Sparsh darshan, where devotees are allowed to touch the Jyotirlinga. This is not a faster queue. It is a different kind of darshan that the temple permits only at certain times, and it has its own expectations around dress.
Officials and dignitaries are handled through the temple’s own protocol arrangements. Those are not for sale, through MandirMay or anyone else.

General, Sugam and Sparsh darshan compared
General darshan is free and open to everyone during temple hours. The wait depends entirely on the day; on Mondays, in Shravan and on festival days it can be very long.
Sugam darshan is the paid, slot-based entry. With it, entry and darshan usually take 30 to 45 minutes on regular days and up to 90 minutes on peak weekends and festival days. Each devotee above 12 needs a ticket in their name; children under 12 go free. This is the closest thing Kashi has to a "VIP pass", and for most families it is the right choice.
Sparsh darshan is for devotees who want to touch the Jyotirlinga and offer their prayer at closer range. Traditional wear is expected. The temple decides when Sparsh darshan is open, and it can be paused on very crowded days.
If you mainly want less waiting, choose Sugam. If touching the Jyotirlinga matters to you, ask about Sparsh darshan for your date.
What MandirMay arranges
MandirMay is an independent platform that helps devotees book. We are not affiliated with the Kashi Vishwanath Temple Trust, and we don’t sell any line or entry that the temple doesn’t offer itself.
What we do:
- Sugam darshan booking assistance. Our team books the temple’s official Sugam darshan ticket on the temple board’s portal for you, and the e-ticket comes to your WhatsApp and email as a PDF. The full step-by-step is on Kashi Vishwanath Sugam darshan booking.
- Sparsh darshan, listed with our Kashi pujas. Ask us what the temple allows on your date.
- The rest of the visit: a hotel room about a 2–3 minute walk from the temple, airport and station transfers, a Sankalp puja at the Ganga ghat, a Rudrabhishek, and the evening boat ride.
Book on the Kashi Vishwanath page. You see the price for your date before you pay, pay an advance through Razorpay, and pay the rest before the visit.
Be careful with “VIP pass” offers
Around busy temples you may meet people offering a "VIP entry" or a "special line" for cash. At Kashi Vishwanath, the paid routes come from the temple itself. Before you pay anyone, it helps to ask three questions:
- Will the ticket be the temple’s own e-ticket, in my name?
- Does it need my Aadhaar details? A real Sugam ticket does.
- Which slot is it for, and when will I receive it?
If the answers are vague, walk away. With MandirMay, you get the temple’s official ticket in your names, and you know the price before you pay.
Who a faster darshan suits
A shorter, timed darshan helps most when:
- you are travelling with elderly parents or small children, who find long standing hard;
- you have a train or flight the same day and can’t risk an open-ended wait;
- you are visiting on a Monday, in Shravan or on a festival, when the general line is longest;
- you want to fit darshan, a ghat puja and the evening boat into one day.
If you have a relaxed schedule and come on a weekday outside the peak season, the general queue can be manageable too. October to March is the most comfortable time to visit Varanasi.
A day with Sugam darshan might look like this. You stay in a room a few minutes’ walk from the temple, so there is no early-morning drive. You start with a Sankalp puja at the Ganga ghat, then walk up through the Kashi Vishwanath Corridor for your Sugam slot. After darshan there is time to rest through the afternoon, and in the evening you take the boat on the Ganga for the aarti. Nothing in the day depends on how long the general queue happens to be.
If you are coming for one day only, pick a mid-morning slot that leaves time after your train or flight arrives, and keep the evening for the ghats before you leave.
For a planned trip with everything arranged, see the Varanasi tour package, or a ready-made Kashi Darshan, Ganga Aarti & Boat trip over two nights when one fits your dates.
Before you book
Kashi bookings are non-refundable and can’t be rescheduled. Fix your travel dates before you pay. Up to five devotees can go on one booking.
Have each adult’s full name as on Aadhaar, age, gender and Aadhaar number ready, and carry the same Aadhaar cards on the day. If the slot you want is full, our team offers another time, and refunds you in full if none suits you.
The temple’s visiting hours are listed as 6:00 AM to 9:00 PM. See darshan timings for the aartis and the quieter hours.
