What an online pind daan with MandirMay is
Not every family can travel for pind daan. Elders may not be well enough, family members may live abroad, or the right day may come when no one can leave home. For these families, MandirMay arranges an online pind daan performed in Kashi.
Pandits in Kashi perform the pind daan on your family's behalf. They take the sankalp in the name of your family and the departed, and make the offerings with the full samagri, just as they would if you were there. Kashi, on the Ganga, is one of the places Hindu tradition holds sacred for rites for the departed.
To be clear about one thing: this rite is performed in Kashi, not in Gaya. MandirMay's Gaya catalog has no online pind daan. If your family wants the rite at Gaya's vedis, at the Falgu River, Vishnupad Temple and Akshay Vat, it has to be done in person. See pind daan booking in Gaya for that.

When an online pind daan fits
Families usually choose the online rite when:
- No one can travel to Gaya or Kashi because of health, age, distance or work.
- The family lives abroad and wants the rite done in India on a particular day.
- They want to mark a day, such as during Pitru Paksha or on the tithi of a loved one's passing, and can't be there in person.
If someone in the family can travel, many families still prefer to be there and perform the rite themselves. Talk it over at home. Both are sincere ways of making the offering, and the choice is yours.
How booking works
- Choose Online Pind Daan In Kashi and your date on the Kashi Vishwanath page. You see the price before you pay anything.
- Pay an advance online through Razorpay. The rest is paid before the rite.
- Share your family's details when our team contacts you on WhatsApp or by phone: the names of the departed and their relation to you, your gotra if you know it, and the name of the family member in whose name the sankalp is to be taken.
- The pandits perform the rite in Kashi on the date you booked. All samagri is included.
When you book, ask how you will be kept informed on the day, for example whether you can join by video call or receive photos. We'll tell you what is possible for your date.
Please note: Kashi bookings are non-refundable and cannot be rescheduled. Check your date and details carefully before you pay.
Keeping the day at home
Even when the rite happens far away, many families like to keep the day quietly at home. This is a matter of family custom, not a requirement. Some common practices:
- Eating only simple sattvic food on the day.
- Lighting a lamp and keeping a photograph of the departed in the prayer place.
- Offering water with black sesame (tarpan) in the morning, if someone in the family knows how.
- Giving food or daan to someone in need in the departed's name.
Do whatever feels right for your family. The pandit can also tell you what is usual if you ask.
If you can travel: in-person pind daan in Gaya and Kashi
If someone in the family can make the journey, MandirMay arranges the rite in person in two places:
- Gaya Ji: a 1, 2 or 3-day pind daan in Gaya, led by Gayawal pandits at the Falgu River, Vishnupad Temple, Akshay Vat and, on longer rites, up to 11 sacred places. A Tripindi Shradh is also available there.
- Kashi: a 1-day pind daan in Kashi and a Tripindi Shradh on the Kashi ghats, booked on the Kashi Vishwanath page.
If you're not sure what the rite involves, the pind daan vidhi guide explains the usual steps.
