Shighra darshan booking at Baidyanath Dham: how the line works and how to book
Updated 6 November 2026
Quick answers
- Shighra (quick) darshan is the temple’s separate, shorter line to the sanctum; it is the same thing as the “VIP darshan pass”.
- Shighra entry runs in a daytime window, 6 AM to 3 PM; the temple itself is open 4 AM to 10 PM.
- MandirMay books it in four steps: choose your date, pay an advance, get a WhatsApp confirmation, and meet your representative at the dham.
- Passes for each day are limited, so book at least a day ahead; today’s price is in the table below.
- Baidyanath Dham is open 4 AM – 10 PM, as the temple lists it.
What Shighra darshan is
Shighra means quick. At Baba Baidyanath Dham in Deoghar, Shighra darshan is the temple's separate line for devotees who want a shorter wait than the general queue. It is what people mean when they search for a "VIP darshan" or "VIP pass" at Baidyanath. They are the same service under two names.
The Shighra line does not take you to a different place. You reach the same sanctum and offer jal, flowers and bel patra to the same Jyotirlinga. What is different is the queue you stand in and the time it takes.
If you mainly want to know what the pass costs and what MandirMay's arrangement includes, see the Baidyanath VIP darshan pass page. This page covers how the Shighra line works on the day and how to book it.

How the Shighra line works on the day
Shighra entry runs in a daytime window, 6 AM to 3 PM. The temple's own hours are longer, from 4 AM to 10 PM, but outside the Shighra window you join the general queue.
Here is how a Shighra darshan with MandirMay usually goes:
- You meet your representative near the temple at the time agreed in your confirmation.
- You receive your offering: jal, flowers and bel patra, so you don't need to buy them at the gate.
- You leave footwear and leather items behind. Belts, wallets and bags made of leather are not allowed inside.
- You join the Shighra line with your representative and show your photo ID when asked.
- You reach the sanctum, offer jal, flowers and bel patra to Baba Baidyanath, and take darshan.
- You come out and, if you have booked one, go on to your puja.
How long it takes depends on the day. On a weekday morning outside Shravan the Shighra line usually moves much faster than the general queue. On Mondays, on Mahashivratri and through Shravan, every line is longer, the Shighra line included.
Steps to book Shighra darshan with MandirMay
- Open the Baidyanath Dham page and choose the darshan pass.
- Pick your date and the number of devotees. The price for that date is shown before you pay. A pass covers one devotee or more.
- Pay an advance online through Razorpay. The rest is paid before your visit.
- Get your confirmation on WhatsApp, with your darshan time and your representative's details.
- Arrive at the meeting point on the day with a government photo ID for every devotee.
The number of passes MandirMay can arrange each day is limited. If you know your date, book a day or more ahead. In Shravan and on festival days, book as early as you can.
A convenience fee applies to the darshan pass. It supports the booking platform and the ground team who take you through.
Who Shighra darshan suits
- Families with elders or children, for whom standing in a long general queue is hard.
- Devotees on a short visit, who arrive in the morning and leave the same day or the next.
- Devotees who also want a puja, since a shorter darshan leaves time for a Rudrabhishek or Sankalp puja afterwards.
- First-time visitors, who want someone to guide them through the line and the offering.
If your day has room for a longer wait, the general queue is free and reaches the same sanctum. You can still book a puja, a hotel or a cab with MandirMay on its own.
Shighra darshan with a stay or a trip
If you are coming from outside Deoghar, you can add a room near the temple and an airport or station pickup to the same booking. The rooms are within a short walk of the gates, which makes the morning window easy to reach.
MandirMay's ready-made trips include Shighra darshan, such as a same-day VIP darshan and Sankalp or a two-night Darshan & Rudrabhishek trip with a hotel, sightseeing and transfers; pick one on the Baidyanath page when it fits your dates. See Deoghar tour packages to compare them, and darshan timings to plan your day.
